Beyond the pursuit of what makes us who we are.
Our resolve in the new vessel called “Mobitera”

In April 2027, we will change our company name from Panasonic Automotive Systems Co., Ltd. to Mobitera Inc. This is not simply a change of name, but an “evolution” we chose of our own will to deliver the spirit we have cultivated to society with even greater purity.
In the process of changing our company name, we had many realizations. CEO Masashi Nagayasu will explain the core sentiments that came into view through the valuable process of dialogue as we took a deep look again at “who we are,” along with the hopes we have placed in our new name.

Our Unwavering Dedication:
Always Staying Close to People

In considering the name change, what we decided was that it would not be a forum for simply coming up with a new name. This is because we saw it as a once-in-a-lifetime chance to redefine, with our own hands, “who we are” and “why we exist,” once again. Until now, as a member of the Panasonic Group, we have shared its history and spirit, and we have walked alongside it. However, amid the major transformation of the automotive industry said to occur once in a century, we must formulate strategies of our own will and grow as an autonomous company. This decision, made with an eye toward a future IPO, does not in any way deny the path we have taken to date. Rather, it is a positive “departure” to present the trust and technology we have cultivated to the world in a purer form.

Over several months, we reviewed roughly 800 proposed new company names and continued our dialogue. What became clear was our unwavering dedication: beyond our technologies, there are always people. We do not want to be a manufacturer that simply makes excellent products as “things,” but a company that designs “experiences” that make all mobility comfortable and enrich lives. Symbolizing our aspiration to become the “Joy in Motion” design company is the letter “i” placed at the center of the new company name “Mobitera” logo. The “i” in the center of the logo symbolizes our vow to keep “individuals” at the forefront of all we do. Our business is unshakably grounded in a resolve to support individuals’ experiences. No matter how far technology evolves, at its center there should always be the human heart. We are convinced that this “individual-centered” philosophy is the identity itself that, together with our new company name, we will carry into the future.

With Passion and Integrity:
The Persona of Mobitera That Emerged

Following the decision on our company name, we moved into considering the logo design that will serve as the symbol of our brand. However, before we began shaping it, there was something we needed to clarify thoroughly. It was what kind of spirit we should place into the vessel of a new name.

A logo is, so to speak, the face of the company. To decide that expression, we first needed to clarify what kind of persona we wanted to be. The approach we chose was to see the brand as an individual and refine its character to the fullest. To translate our abstract commitment to staying close to people into concrete day-to-day behavior, we broke down the values we set forth—integrity, teamwork, adaptability, challenge, and productivity—into actions we should take (DO) and actions we should never take (DON’T), and discussed them exhaustively.

Through this contrast, what emerged was a way of being that upholds, at a high level, both a stance of staying close to the heart and a strong sense of responsibility as professionals. For example, rather than prioritizing a polished appearance at all times, we sweat it out and see things through to the very end. Or, rather than being satisfied with steady business expansion, we aim to be number one and work to win. We believe that this integrity, which may seem awkward at first glance, is precisely what it takes to be professionals who think independently and take responsibility for their work.

The Courage to Change,
and the Core to Be Carried Forward

Aim to be number one and work to win(Do)→Focus on steady business growth rather than winning(Don't) Face things head-on, in earnest, and keep our promises(Do)→Achieve objectives by any means necessary(Don't) Sweat it out and see things through to the end(Do)→Maintain an air of ease and prioritize a polished appearance at all time (Don't)

As we now evolve into a new form called Mobitera, what I want to value is viewing this change as “autonomous evolution.” Until now, we have kept in step with the brand and management policies Panasonic has built, and we have shared its values. However, going forward, we want customers to choose us because “the experiences Mobitera creates are exceptional.” We will carve out our own path through our own capabilities. This, we believe, is a positive challenge to prove our value as professionals.

Of course, there is a “core” we must not change. That core is the “founding principles” we have cultivated to date, and our “relentless commitment to quality” in safety and security. These are our DNA that will remain unchanged even as our company name changes, and they are timeless values we must choose of our own will and carry forward to the next generation. At the same time, we must also have the “courage to change.” To survive in a rapidly changing industry, we will accelerate decision-making and increase the flexibility of our capital policy. We will decide the path we should take “with our own convictions and with our own hands.” I am convinced that only by balancing this “resolve to protect what must be protected” and this “determination to evolve” can we truly become the organization society needs.

Always on the Go to Become
The “Joy in Motion” design company

Our journey has only just begun. As the value of cars shifts from “things” to “experiences,” what we aim for is to become the “Joy in Motion” design company that creates the very “time and space” of mobility itself. Not merely making mobility more convenient, but giving form to the ultimate “Joy in Motion” so people can spend time in that space as themselves, in a fulfilling way.Sensing people’s conditions with care and delivering spaces that truly satisfy, through all five senses, sight, sound, and even touch and smell. Building up these challenges one by one and contributing to people’s well-being is our promise.

If “Joy in Motion” improves, people will want to go out more. As mobility becomes more active, cities will come alive, and people’s lives will be colored more richly. In our new company name, we placed the hope of opening the road (“Iter”) and illuminating (“Tera” in Japanese) the future. With individual-centered mobility, we will brightly light the way one step ahead. We will shape this major challenge through proactive action unbound by fixed ideas. We aim to forge, together with all of our stakeholders, a future in which the ultimate “Joy in Motion” we create leads to smiles around the world.
